Our bedroom is upstairs facing north with large windows so save for a couple of trees we can see most of the northern sky up to about 60 degrees lying in bed. During full Moon it can become almost uncomfortably bright.
i can see most of the sky in the north-east from bed. i made a 50mm refractor that i keep at the window for when i can't sleep. on clear nights i open the window and stargaze from bed, very cosy .
A remarkable thing, it seems to accompany me to all sorts of wonderful and varied places. 'Tis not a modern thing with zips, nets and hoopy things - just a simple canvas, foam and blanket device that affords a total view of the sky.
So I can't really cast a vote, because the criteria don't fit my favourite bed - but be sure that I have drifted off to sleep in swag many, many times, literally with stars in my eyes........
A couple of years ago, we stayed at Magellan observatory (Lake Bathurst, NSW). I swung the bed near a window, deliberately kept curtains open.Woke up several times to the sight of SMC loud and clear- surreal.
Well I can see the Northern sky from my bed. My favorite time is the summer nights when the moon is full as it is low enough to see it with binoculars. As long as the light comes in at right angles (near to it), the glass offers little effect from dispersion. Below the northern limit of the ecliptic, our palm trees cut out the view a bit.
