Tony replied - he's pulled the story for now while he finds out whether someone was trying to trick him.

hmm maybe there was a super-bolide after all - just that the video wasn't showing pictures of it, more like file footage. It was probably mentioned in the Croatian story but of course it was lost in translation for us

Hi Mike,

It looks like the email I received from Jure was real, and there may have indeed been a "super-bolide." The video, however, is not of the bolide; ironically, however, that doesn't mean the video is a hoax. The news report was delivered in Croatian, and many western readers (including me) have misunderstood that the photos shown in the report are not the bolide.

Stay tuned. --Tony

the videos have been confirmed to be fake... has anyone heard any other news or seen any other picture or video of this event?

Yes, that the bolide was real and the news article was asking for eye-witnesses to come forwards to give reports. The pictures where fake but were meant to give an idea of what it would have looked like, but because it wasn't in English not many understood this. That's what I've heard.

I saw one in Geraldton about a dozen years ago, went from horizon to horizon, must have taken a bout 4-5 seconds. Really bright and sort of throwing out sparks. Probably not a meteor but a bit of "Space Junk" re-entering the atmosphere. Looked really spectacular.
