Congrats Ken hope you enjoy your new Job, I was promoted to a leading hand position about 3 weeks ago, so I can sort of undestand how you are feeling.

Keep up the good work

Hi all.

I'm buggered!

After starting work on my first day at 7am and doing a solid days work I had to race home, pick up my boys, get to footy training, run around a paddock with a wild pack of kids, pack everything up, race the boys home again just in time to drive back to Ballarat for the third time today to chair the Football meeting. I am finally home and stuffed!

What a first day.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring LOL.

Hi All,

Presently I am having trouble just typing this message as I am very tired from my new job. On my first day (yesterday) I was bombarded with a 3 day induction in about 4 hours then trained in my job for the rest of the day which should've taken 2 days. Then did the footy coaching and meeting bit after work.

Today was my 2nd day and had to do overtime!!! We do overtime everyday and work Saturdays as well.

I am not in the Sign-writing dept as was requested. I am on the finishing line, fitting all the plumbing to semi-trailers including all hoses, brakes, suspension and tanks. Very heavy work. (those trailers are verrrrrry long!)

I am dissapointed I am not where I wanted to be but they were short of staff in the section where I ended up. But at least I have a job and I am thankful for that.

It is probably knocking me around because I have not worked for 12 months.

I may not be in here a whole lot until I adjust to working very long hours (10-12 hours) 6 days a week. I am just so tired.

Thats enough whinging from me.

Ken, I'm sure you'll adjust, maybe you can delegate some of your leisure activities to ease the burden. With all that overtime you may even come over to the dark side and get a goto....

Bite that tongue,Phil. You know Ken will never give in to the 'DARK SIDE'. Chin up Ken, you only have a few more years to go before retirement. L.

GoTo, hmmm.

Retirement! Sounds good if I could afford to live on it Laurie. Still got about 10 - 15 years of work in me yet.

I had to quit today. Only managed to last 4 days!!!!

They stuffed it all up and put me in a different dept. doing all the plumbing on semi-trailers. It buggered my back and my neck and I have headaches every night since I started.

The job they gave me I had to walk along under the trailers, the whole day (up to 12 hours) I was reaching up and looking up while installing and connecting all the air lines, brakes and suspension, air tanks, gauges and control systems. Some of them I couldn't even reach on tip-toes!!

Imagine looking up to the sky and holding a brick up with both hands for 10-12 hours. That's what it was like. My neck is suffering the most I think. I will know when the pain settles down and see which part of me is still aching the most.

Pity, coz I do want the work.

I am not as young as I thought.

I will find something else I hope!

Just what every astronomer needs...... practice at looking up.. Seriously though Ken it sounds like they were using you. Let's hope you find something that will allow you to put your good nature, kindness and humour to work instead of your muscles...
