Interestingly, the 'Ashes' originally came from
Australia, back in 1882. A group of ladies presented the small ceramic urn (possibly an empty prefume jar) containing the burnt remains of a bail (95% sure) to Hon Ivo Bligh, later Lord Darnley.
The urn travelled to England with Darley, and at his death was bequeathed to the MCC Museum.
So, in actual fact, the urn is a museum piece, not a trophy at all.
Just thought I'd straighten out it's origins

Australian!
