Thursday might be ok, and maybe late Saturday? (as sunday is predicted to be fine too).
ah well, this is the hobby we choose. If the weather is bad, it'll be fantastic to catch up with everyone anyway.

An update sent to all registered attendees:
Quote:
Hi all
You're receiving this email because you registered for IISAC2008.
IISAC2008 is only 3 days away now, and I thought I'd update you with a few things:
- If you're arriving on Thursday, you are free to turn up any time after 10 or 11am or so, but the organising committee will be busy unpacking and setting up so we may not be available to process your registration until later. The registration desk is likely to be ready and open from around 2 or 3pm, so come back and see us then.
- When you register, you'll receive your name tag and plastic holder. Your name tag is also your dinner ticket (if you opted for the catered dinner) as well as your lucky door prize draw ticket. So please don't lose them! It would also be fantastic if you returned the plastic holder at the end of the camp before you leave as it'll mean less to buy for next year.
- When you arrive, please don't park in the bottom house area as it can get quite busy there with pedestrian traffic, as well as the marquee and the Gresford RFB. The designated parking area is around/under the clump of trees below the bottom house.
- The weather forecast looks fairly disappointing, but that's not going to stop us having a great time enjoying each others company, making new friends and catching up with old friends that you might only see once or twice a year. And anyway, forecasts have known to be wrong from time to time

- Thursday and Friday are still predicted to be very warm (30/31deg) so remember your sunscreen, hats, swimming costumes, and drink plenty of water.
- There will be cans of soft drink, bottles of water and ice block tubes available for purchase.
- If you haven't ordered an IISAC2008 t-shirt yet but would like one, there will be some available for purchase. Numbers will be limited, so get in quick. I'll also have some old IISAC2006, IISAC2007 t-shirts (limited stock in limited sizes) and generic IceInSpace t-shirts and beanies available for sale at bargain prices.
- I will have copies of the Astronomy 2009 Yearbook ($20) by Quasar Astronomy, as well as the Astronomy 2009 Calendar ($10 star party special price!) by Astrovisuals available for sale.
- As always, please be careful on the narrow, winding country roads. Be aware of other cars and of course wildlife.
Drive safely and I look forward to seeing you at IISAC2008!

Well I've just about finished packing and am raring to go first thing in the morning.
Just a couple of items to throw in the freezer when Petra drops them around this arvo, and you won't see Anna and I for the dust.

Ready to Roll
The Caravan is hitched, the territory loaded to the roof, ready to roll 5AM tommorow from Melbourne.
Going via Echuca / Parkes for a look to get into the mood. If anyone else is going that way look out for a White Territory at the Dish about lunch time on Wednesday - Dont be shy, the wife and baby don't really bite!
Hope the weather reports are wrong, but will have a good time at my first astro-camp anyway.
Seya all up there,
Big Dave

I packed the trailer yesterday, too. Well, mostly. The trailer is pretty much full and I haven't packed my telescope/imaging gear yet. That'll have to go in the car.
It should be considerably lighter on the way home!

Hi Dave - enjoy the trip. I have this from the official horses mouth - Garry Younberry the weather man on NBN
"Hi David,
Forecast for Wednesday is cloud mainly about the coast clearing for Thursday. Then on Friday some high cloud moving in later with a southerly change for Saturday.
Cheers,
Garry Youngberry"

Hmmm.. I have to consider not going now. I've got so much on at the moment it'd be a complete waste of time of the weather wasn't going to behave... Has anyone got a clearer picture of the forecasted weather today?

LOL! You're right Geoff. Yes, I do. Thanks for pointing that out.
Oh well - RH or S...
You see - because I had decided not to go, the weather will be great. Reverse psychology in action.

Unfortunately Andrew Murrell has rolled his ankle and won't be able to attend IISAC2008
John and Gary will still have their 18" scopes there for the night sky tours, but unless someone local wants to (and has room for) take up the 25", it'll have to stay home this time around.
Hope your ankle gets better soon, Andrew!
