Tasmania's Other Shed
Hi all,
Crater Lake Boatshed, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania, Australia. 17th of May 2013.
I am sure that most of you have seen pictures of the famous boatshed on Dove Lake with Cradle Mountain in the background. However the majority of visitors to the area don't realise that there is another boatshed on a nearby lake. Yes, it might not be as perfectly positioned and it is a bit more of a walk to get to it, but when the sun breaks through the mist and lights up the autumn colours of the native Fagus plants, then I think it is every bit as pretty as its more famous cousin.
Canon 5D MkII, 17-40mm F/4L at 20mm. 10 image panorama.
Cheers,
Greg

That has a fairy-tale quality about it. You almost expect to see Hansel and Gretel skipping down the path. Lovely work.

I walked to it from Ronney Creek carpark and didn't find it too bad at all. Yes it's basically uphill all the way, but that whole area just inspires you to keep going. I have heard that if you go from Dove Lake carpark it is a much harder slog to get too.

Yeah, I think Cradle owed me this image after I had spent 6 days looking at pretty much constant cloud and rain. I took this on the last day I was there.

I was there only a few weeks ago, 5th or 6th time at Cradle Mountain I think! Its a wonderful place to go and walk, and even better for awesome photos like this one! Plus when you get a clear sky it makes for a nice nightscape picture, no light pollution up there
Anyways great pano,
Cheers,
Jake

Thank you very much Jake My second time there. Went for 6 straight days hoping for clear skies for nightscapes, but got basically nothing but cloud, rain and snow. Next time..........

Ah, Greg. I empathise. My last trip to NZ, was 12 days of nothing but clear skies. Only one day had a cloudy sunset.
I came back with 2 photos.
As for this one, I already commented on Facebook, but, I love the light which gives the painterly rendition to the foliage.
