Fantastic shot Bob.
I saw the ISS through a 4" Maksutov in mid March which has almost the same focal length 1250mm. I managed to catch it in the narrow field and then hung on for dear life as I followed it manually across the sky.
Thanx everyone, and might add that all these replies have been rather inspiring, so much that Ive challenged myself to have another go at 2meters F/L that being with a C8 F10, might get lucky
ISS due for twilight passes start of June, waiting, waiting , , ,
that is a really good image. 2m fl?, has to be worth a try after this result. good luck. regards ray
Hey Thanx Ray Another 89deg Alt due evening 31st over Goldy Coast ? ?
Actually have been talking the disadvantages of tripods and mounts for this sought of caper, , and may - May design a simple rig/mount to serve the purpose some what bettera, something with no legs under the scope so can freely manuver myself under it, will obviousely be some long solid poles invovled, large 'A' frame or mini swing style of soughts ? ?
Might nothing come of it but the seeds have been planted

I tried to catch the station last night with my scope plus DSLR in video mode but the frame rate was not quick enough. I think next time I'll try stills.

Can I ask what shutter speed etc you used?
Malc
Cheers Malc, sorry for late reply, I see your recent effort and found the exposure settings, should go better with them, all the best

Your pic ended up with 253 Likes and 66 shares todate on fb!
That should make you feel even better in enjoying your moment of fb fame .
My favourite of the comments on it was "Oh Hell Yeh". Says it all doesn't it.
And someone else commented that you should send the pic to NASA and get it autographed- oooooh that'd be so cool wouldn't it.

Great pic, real nice.
Heres my ISS freepoint mount.
Its the scope in front of the observatory hanging a black ED 80.
The main arm has a removable bolt to hold it in upright position, then pull the bolt and it all folds away.
I have had much better luck actually viewing the ISS with the big Dobsonian in background. Its quite easy and very impressive. I think the best way to image ISS would be to mount your refractor on the back of a people friendly Dobsonian. Visually track the station and go crazy with the remote shutter release on the camera at the back of your refractor. Just an idea, Brett

Thats not a bad idea for a refracter brett Not sure how it would go with a C8 being short and fat, I should try the ED100 with 2x barlow though
Appreaciate your input mate, BTW, it was clouded out during the last ISS pass, have to wait a few weeks now !
Rgrds !
