Antares & Alpha Crux from SPSP

Here's another two panels next to Antares from the SPSP. So 10x5min for the right side and 15x5min for the left side.

There's a big one here [3.3MB]
and a smaller here [1.92MB]

I did best as I could to get rid of the massive halo but left a little ring from the transition from light to dark. Doesn't look too bad. Too hard to blend that in.

Probably will keep doing other panels on this one next new moon.

The second one is Acrux. The guiding was impeccable on that shot. I wish the whole session went this way. Being closer to the pole probably helped.

There's a big one here [3.46MB] worth checking. That's probably my best shot of the 2 nights.

Great work, Marc! The Acrux shot is my favourite - I like how the two stars are still nicely separated, and that little planetary nebula (I think?) near HIP 60128 gives some nice colour contrast

Thanks Mike. Yeah it's my fav too. Even 1:1 looks good. The scope can do it and the corrector's spot on. The only variable is between the chair and the keyboard.

Thanks Greg. I had a big halo on Acrux too but it went away ok. I might redo Antares later on see if I can do a better job and bring back some color too in the star.

Thanks mate. Yes I noticed that one too. I'll post a 1:1 crop of it. It has some dark dust lanes in it as well and some structure. Will look it up for a name too.

Thanks Rolf. I'm forever imaging it because I usually do my first goto on it. It's easy to spot the double in the finder. I focus on it too and start guiding to make sure everything is working ok so I always end up with a lot of subs on it. THen I move on to my targets.

No, my imaging setup isn't really portable; I enjoy going to the star party for the talks, looking at the different scopes around, the sky tours and the overall experience.

Yes, more mosaic panels Marc... C'mon man, stick to the mission! Seriously, your panel stitching is flawless is I'm eagerly awaiting more to experience this eye candy in full. I don't mind the flare. Reminds me of an artists impression of a space scene and they've photoshop'd in a lens flare. Ironically, they are absolute buggers to photoshop out, especially in a starry scape like this so I agree don't go chasing it as it will do your head in. Great result on ACrux too (no lens flare - even just for fun?) Keep up the good work.

Thanks Jase. I used your method on the flare. Rho is such a big area at that FL I'd need more than 10 panels to cover it. Not sure I'll do it with this scope. More likely a 200mm lens.
