World Press Photo of the Year kafuffle.

An interesting story nevertheless, sure to raise some different points of view. My view is, "Storm in a teacup" but I guess there are some who would say rules are rules and it's up to the panel on how they interpret them.

Play nice!

Warning: Photo of the year contains graphic content.

It turns out that the 2013 World Press Photo of the Year — the largest and most prestigious press photography award — was, in actual fact, a fake. The World Press Photo association hasn’t yet stripped the photographer, Paul Hansen, of the title, but presumably it’s just a matter of time. Rather than discussing the politics of photo manipulation, though — is it faked, or is it merely enhanced? — we’re going to look at how Hansen managed to trick a panel of experienced judges with his shooping skillz, and how a seasoned computer scientist spotted the fraudulent forgery from a mile off.
And now a more rounded article.

I guess for the kids in the photo and their family's it doesn't really matter.

Interesting article Jarrod, it lead me down the path of looking through the rest of the images by other entrants, some striking and compelling photographs. Reminds me of the long gone Life magazines my mom used to bring home, I loved flicking through them often taking them to school to show others.

Cheers for that

I guess you could liken it to athletes taking steroids. If the rules say you aren't allowed to significantly edit you image, then your cheating if you do.
