full disk SOL 04 MAY 2013 - May the 4th be with you
two exposures combined with the DMK41 and the 60DS lunt taken saturday afternoon. processed in Autostakkert2 and Registax6 then PS. very average conditions - well mostly below average but you take what you can get, after all it was cloudy most of the day then the southerly came through
I have the same uneven illumination problem (not central) but in my case the mosaic cures the problem. I'm thinking the same for you, even though the Sun might fit of in your FOV, not sure?

so each time you move arounf the disk do you change the setting to shift the highlight to what would ba a central part of the sun?
No. What I do is: I get the disc central on the camera chip, I add a heap of gain until I get a burnt/blown out section on the screen, I then tune the filter until I get the smallest section (it's round of course) of burn out & then this PST is tuned. In my case I'm not in control of WHERE on the SUN or FOV it is. Just so happens this burntout section is slightly off centre, but the standard 6 pane mosaic fixes it.
Naturally I turn down the gain again before shooting!
Certainly getting there David. The uneven illumination can be sorted with a Lunt but it will take a little time to work it out. I found that making sure the entire field is even would require several adjustments to the primary and secondary etalon.

so we are only taking about the tuning knobs then?
