WL C11 solar 5th May

Not overly pretty, but then the seeing wasn't playing ball. Some of you may know I've been trying for ages to capture some granulation with the C11 & full aperture glass Thousand Oaks filter. Well last night as I was laying in bed (it's when I do my best thinking ) I formulated a plan.

Knock the aperture back to roughly 3-4" unobstructed (offset mask) & try to stop the OTA from heating up. Once the heating up process gets to a point, it's all over due to internal convection.

Anyway, pretty happy with this result considering. At least I now know it's possible with this setup!

Uploading some equipment pics which are extremely high tech as you can see

Works for me.

Wowsers, high tech indeed.
Seeing wasn't really up to it though, as you say. Bodes well for a decent day though. Is it worth thinking about something like a "space-blanket" type cover for the tube, to keep the heat out. I have the same sort of headache, I built a full aperture filter for the front of the 10" newt, C/F (so, dark/black) tube, and suffer the same thermal issues.
