Gold Carina Nebula

This is meant to be a NB image in Hubble palette. If you do not like it I have other versions.

That's a great job Bert.
It should be a giant wall poster.

Hi Bert,

Amazing feeling of depth in your image, like the colours too!

Cheers,

Beautiful colours, and the shape looks a bit like a giant butterfly.
You can probably safely lift the background a little, it looks very black.

Thanks for the comments. I am new to this false colour caper.

This was version one 11MB

http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.co...3_05/CAR1_.jpg

It shows more faint stuff.

This is an average of version one with the gold version. 11MB

http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.co...5/CAR_C1&G.jpg

This is a combination of Version one with gold with the maximum of both 12MB

http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.co...CAR_max1&G.jpg

We could do this forever and get more confused.

Below is version 1, average of 1&gold, gold and 1&gold maximum.

Bert

Does anyone else see Mark Jackson the footballer battery bloke's profile in the top right corner?

I think I finally can see what is going on here. The two dark dust nebula are like the handle of a great cosmic basket. You can see the shadows of the energetic stars behind them. Eta Carina is in the bottom of the basket and lights up whatever is in line of sight.

I am sure that someone who knows about POV ray tracing could work out a three dimensional version.

Enjoyed the natural colour rendition Bert. Don't think I've seen Eta expressed this way before. Cool in a freakish kinda way! So many images to choose from, so hard to pick a stand out winner. All great to see.

These are mere musings before the real battle begins. I need to know visually what is in the data I have collected by processing it, so I know what and how to collect next.

I have rebuilt my optic hood extension with better baffling and an add on hood to stop the Moon/light pollution illuminating the interior of this optic extension. Even with 3nm filters the Moon is a pain with OIII especially.

Even if something is black do not be fooled it reflects far red and IR very well. This of course includes HA, NII and SII.

Bert
