No rain today! Phew!!!!

Thanks to all the Sydney crowd for not buying anything expensive over the last few days.
Thanks to the BOM for getting today's Sydney forecast wrong.

We had my brother's wedding reception at our place, out of doors. While it was humid and cloudy it didn't rain.

Everyone seemed to have a great time. The under 10's ran riot. We've found most of the pieces of the toys they played with. As far as I know only one piece is over the fence in the neighbour's pool.

We have counted all the hired glasses, cups, saucers and plates and they are all there and unbroken. Between my brothers-in-law and me we got our new gazebo back in its carry bag.

Several of the bride's friends are going to teach SWMBO how to wear a sari. She has a couple but can't figure them out.

You'll like the "knife" they used on the cake.

I didn't put a scale in David. It's over a metre long.

And almost razor sharp.

Be careful... a word from experience.

I have been custodian of my Grandfather's souvenir Katana he brought back from Borneo since I was 16. Of course, you play with it a little...

Was trying to put it back in the scabbard like the Japanese do with that hold the scabbard throat and run the sword to it, then in.... well, thumbs get in the way.

STRAIGHT to the bone. CHIPPED the bone, or should I say sliced the bone on my left thumb. Didn't even notice for a while - the blade is THAT sharp (yes, real ones are RAZOR sharp). Was more concerned for sword blade than me, and even though no blood on it, still wiped it over with clove oil to be sure. THEN I attended to me

And mine is just a plain old Shin Gunto, but with a personal family story attached.

Boys and their toys. It probably worked out best being cloudy Ric. If the sun had been out it would have been too **** hot.

Lewis, this is one of my brother's collection. One of my duties was to clean the oil off and wipe down with meths the day before. He doesn't have any antique ones but every now and then another made in Japan Katana appears.

I think this is the one my son used on the cake at his wedding, but as he was in a kilt maybe a claymore would have been more in keeping.

Brother and wife will probably be back sometime today to collect this and various bits and pieces.
