M83

Captured through a GSO 10"RC using QSI583wsg with the full moon shining down into the scope. Baffelling works well with this scope but still a huge gradient that flats have no hope of removing. Colour was a wash out so this is as good as it got with 10x15min subs. Gradients removed in PixInsight and processed in PS3.

The resolution here doesn't do it justice - I saw this very image on Allan's large monitor this morning, and the image is BREATH-TAKING! (even for monochrome )

PS: now I have Allan's Lodestar, I plan doing M83 myself tonight too - the darned Orion starshoot sutoguider can't find a good enough guide star near M83, and I have to move the guidescope a LOT before it sees one. Hopefully, the renowned sensitivity of the Lodestar will change all that!

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated.
JJJ you need a chain saw for Mother's Day.
Thanks Lewis, good to catch up with you and if you have any problems you have my number but they are a straight forward camera and I hope you enjoy using it.

Already got it sorted Allan, thanks. That is one ULTRA sensitive guider! Should be perfect for guiding in those dark environs I like hunting PN's in.

I know now why the Lodestar is so highly regarded.

Hi Allan

A very respectable M83 given the horrendous conditions. Good to see you continuing to lurk outside our galaxy now that you’ve mastered the solar system!

Cheers

Dennis

Hi Allan,
good name that!
Nice shot considering those conditions.

You can say what I say:

I'm not just an Australian photographer or
an international photographer
I'm an intergalactic photographer.

cheers

Ah M83, always a crowd pleaser even when imaged under a huge moon ..flats and the full moon are not a good mix..even worse with a Newt.

Nice work Big A

Just go for it Lewis and enjoy the guider. It will be more sensitive than your other one for sure and thanks for the chat today and a great transaction.

maybe I'm a universal man or a galactic tramp? But thanks for the comments anyway.

OK! OK! I'll swap my scope for yours just so I can see how hard it is the wrestle a newt into submission. Thanks Big M (isn't that a flavored milk drink?)

Big Al.

Great work Allan! Looks like you've squeezed every pixel of detail from the data set. Despite the gradients you have already mentioned, its a cracker of an image. Well done!

Jase, really appreciate the comments but I'm going to do this puppy for several Nights from a dark site and then add the colour it needs. Now have the scope, software and hardware to do it justice.

Great image Allan. I love how much detail you have captured. Those long subs really bring out the galaxy arms well.

Thanks for the comments Lucas. Fifteen minute subs are about my limit here in the suburbs due to planes flights from Brisbane and light pollution. I really need to get to a dark site to do better.
