Kendrick Dew control can feed it more than 12V?

Hi Guys.

I have a Kendrick dual channel controller to help with dew control details below.
http://www.kendrickastro.com/astro/pdf/SDCC_Manual.pdf.
I have it hooked up to my power supply that also powers my mount the power supply is a variable voltage lab power supply and I'd like to give the mount a bit more than 12V but I'm afraid I'll fry the controller. Power supply details here http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MP3800

Do you thinkit would be safe to give 14v or should I stick to12v?

Thanks

You should be OK.... if it wants 12V, it shouldn't have any issues with 13.8V.... whether you really want to push higher than this is up to you...

I run my G-11 Gemini on 13.8V with no probs, if it were me, I'd buy another PSU for the heater controller, something like one of these....

Aren't they all designed to run of a "12volt" battery? which is 13.8volts when fully charge. If you require more "power" then the answer is to provide it with a source that can deliver more amps if required not feeding it more volts.

Hi Sandy,

I have one of those controllers and run it off a power supply that outputs 13.8v. 3 years no problems, still ticking along fine.

My g11 runs fine off the same PS simultaneously.

Thanks, I'll run it at 14v and see how she goes. I ran it today for a while and it didn't have any issue, longevity may be affected only time will tell.

Thanks

Gemini's sweet spot is at 16v but will take 18v. I agree with your comments re. Kendrick

If you've got 12VDC Snaptec make 30 and 60W DC-DC inverters to give 15VDC. If you ask they will build a 60W 12->18 one.

I asked the same question re my Kendrick Premier controller - hears the reply I got from Jim Kendrick:

Peter,

13.8 volts will be fine to run the premier power controller.

Jim

Sent from my iPad

I've been runing it on 13.8V for a year now without any issues.
