New Japanese Orthoscopics Released

There has been lots of discussion regarding the difficulty of getting Japanese made orthoscopic eyepieces after Tani-san retired last year & the factory closed. Since then stock of the various branded Orthoscopics from this (Circle-T) factory have been disappearing fast, and it has been very difficult to get all of the focal lengths.

I just found out that newly released Japanese made Orthoscopics are now being made available under the Astro Hutech name. They resemble more the University Optics HD Orthoscopics (Flat Top), or the Baader Geniune Orthoscopic (Flat Top) rather than the standard volcano top. They are currently available in 5mm, 6mm,7mm 9mm, 12.5mm, and 18mm. But 4mm and 25mm will be available later in the year. Apparently University Optics will be selling these as well (probably with the University optics name on them).

Yes, they "were" a steal. I have been scraping around trying to find remaining old style Orthoscopics, but they are no longer that cheap, more like $140 for the Baader. There were some that came up on ebay, but the seller refused to sell outside the UK.

I guess now that these new ones have come back on the market it will make it easier to get a set again, for just over $100 each.
