Australian Horror Story

I thought I would show Guy ( Doomsayer ) the sights of Goulburn for a photo safari , this is an old orphanage for boys built 100 years ago .
While Guy used a 4 X 5" and a 'Blad I took some shots with a 5D IR + 14 -24 and a 5D II with 24 -105 and one shot with a Lens Baby.
Creepy place but would like to get some night shots sometime.
Thanks for looking.

Many years ago a friend, who shall remain anonymous, used to live across from said orphanage and when exacerbated by her rowdy kids, used to say, "I'll send you lot to the orphanage if you don't behave!"

An empty threat until one day, a long lost friend turned up on her door and as she introduced the friend to the kids she added casually, "She's from the orphanage."

To which the kids howled, flew into their bedrooms and did not misbehave again - ever.

Richard.

Thanks Steve , Mike and Richard .
Some of the processing probably looks over the top to some but I like to think it suits the subject , not so much what it looks like but how it feels.
Richard if the kids were scared to be sent there back then they would be terrified now , the place has seen definitely better days.

Cool HDR. You wouldn't want to be there at night.

They are good pic's ... although I'm glad I never ended up in one of those places.
If the 'Walls could talk ' ...they could tell a few stories I'd reckon.

Flash .....!!

Thanks Marc , Nik , Col and Lauren .
No HDR but the first pic is Infrared , I use a plugin called B & W effects that can can usually get me the look I'm after quickly and simply , just the thing for me since I'm impatient and a bit of a thickie .

Thanks again

Yes, great images Zane, so much depth and the stories are virtually jumping out at you.

Ok, couldnt resist to follow up on its story - St John's Orphanage, opened in 1905 bu the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic Church. Acouple of extensions were added over the years, including a chapel, a hall, and a couple of wings.
It was closed in 1976, and is supposedly HAUNTED, and used by a local Ghost Tour Company.
It is listed as a Heritage conservation area, but is being considered to be made into residential units.
Some terrible stories out there of the way the nuns terrorized the children, but others with better memories.

Stark and moody. Lovely light.
Processing a little over the top? Maybe a tad but, thats only my opinion....

Thanks Liz , Deeno and Ric
Liz thanks for the links , that Youtube Vid' is a bit dull but a good record of the place ( as it is now ) some people able to see Orbs and people ( ghosts ) in the pics have a much better imagination than me
Lots of information on the place and some very sad stories told , if there's any truth to them no wonder the Catholic Church is in trouble .
Sure wont be going there for a night shoot on my own.
