M8 and M20 Nebulas

Hi all,

A shot of the Triffid and Lagoon nebulas from a couple of weekends back. Taken using a Canon 6D at ISO 6400. Quite amazing considering.

ISO: 6400
Exposure: 28 x 60 seconds
Scope: Megrez 90 APO + Borg DGL
Mount: GM-8

Probably the worst thing about the image is some trailing. The colour is OK but hard to judge as that region of the milky way is so cluttered I find it hard to pick a neutral colour.

Looks nice, Roger, but I'm disturbed that you've chopped the toes off the "Great Foot."

I never expected to capture that much nebulosity so didn't give it thought sorry

A very dense area to work with, yep. I dig this area at this scale,, my 1st of this area was a bit wider, just under 400mm and had fluked the toes, A nice surprise . . .

It's a fun area to image, can't say I've ever got a perfect shot of it tho

Thanks Greg. No, I haven't bought a 6D yet. I was borrowing a friend's (and actually he'd borrowed it too, to test it out).

I don't believe buying a new DSLR is a good value proposition for me right now. The 7D does a good job and I love using it. If I were to suddenly decide I have the time to drive all over the countryside taking spectacular wide-field's I would probably jump at it, but doubt that'll happen before the successor to 6D and 7D are released
