steep learning curve

got myself a little ed80 f5.5 to play around with. It needs a feild flattener for one but cropping the center looks ok. its needs proper alignment too. I fiddled way to long aligning this sucker. I need to take longer lights and take some darks too. I need to learn how to process these things properly...

anyhow my very first dso. its probably 70% of the total frame (the rest cropped off). there is a total of 18 10 second frames there. I can just make out the horsey!

I'm in the same position with my AT65EDQ on EQ3 mount. The mount is rubbish and the best I could manage the other night were 10 second subs, which were of course, lame.

Save up, grab yourself an HEQ5 and an autoguider and blast away.

Cheers,
Cam

i have a heq5 but it still needs to be properly aligned to work well. the camera i am using isnt known for its astro capabilities either Nikon d90)... auto guider? i could do with one of thoe i reckon... but know naught of them. the heq5 does have a port for it tho. really not taking this too seriously as i will probably never get the best or even proper gear, but i'd like to squeeze the most out of what i have.
