Wink So what you doing for Valentines?

Well I figured I'll start a thread on this, especially since now wherever I turn I will probably see atleast 5+ couples making out

I just got some roses and choco delivered to my gf's house, and then going out for a nice dinner. Nothing tooo fancy Oh and also getting my order of goodies from TS delivered today so looks my telescope will not spending Valentines day alone

So anyone doing anything extravagant or crazy for Valentines?

Did the 'Red Roses' thing although I beleive VD is just another over commercialised ripoff but it keeps the peace at home.

But it's our 11th Anniversary Sat so we're doing a long lunch at one of our favourite wineries on the day so that covers the 'nice dinner' aspect.
And they make nice wine ...

My trouble and strife is away helping her sister with the newborn. [More correctly she is minding numbers 1,2 and 3 while the new parents dote over no. 4.] So we won't be doing anything except talking extra nice on the phone. The real celebration will be on St Paddy's day when we will celebrate 35 years of marital bliss.

Brent,
Definitely agreed, probably started by hallmark to sell more cards I reckon. Though it's nice that your anniversay falls near VD, long lunch + wine sounds pretty good Hope the weather holds up for you.

John,
LOL atleast there's heaps of chocolate on sale after! Personally that's always been my favourite, single or not hehe

David,
Awww well that's very nice of your wife to mind them. Hopefully they wont be a handful!

SWMBO is having 10 "girls" over for Book Club. I'm trying to decide how to make myself scarce. The weather looks good enough to get the astro gear out and hide in the back yard/garage.

One of the girls said her husband told her 40 years ago he didn't believe in VD. He's lived up to that declaration and has never done anything for it.

It's my daughter's first birthday so I will be getting home from work to celebrate her first trip around Sol.

My wife commented this morning that Valentines Day will never be just for us again for a long time.

The wife and I are off for dinner at Ripples at Whale Beach. It's a sunny arvo, so we'll take the convertible. Ah, Sydney in summer is great.

Like you Adam, every day is Valentines Day for us. Nicely put.

Cheers,
Jason.

I got a goodbye/combined happy Valentine's Day hug with "see you in 10 days" and wooosh he was gone early this morning...

Hmmm got a male cat that's giving me cuddles in the meanwhile.

Geeee I wonder what there's for dinner in my fridge. *sigh* Trying to get the pic out of my head of reading an exotic menu while a New Orleans muso named Phillipe plays Jazz tunes in some poshy restaurant where no one can pronounce the menu & the kind waiter plays (I mean places) a serviette on my lap...
So is Coco Pops a meal.

This is such a personal question on a public forum

SHE got a single long stem red rose, chocolates, and last night got dinner cooked for her (a day early, since she won't be home tonight).

Yep, Valentines Day is EVERY day here too.Rarely does the romance end.

DEFINITELY not VD day! Though some may be too young to know what VD means in the biological sense

Well I surprised myself this year.

Yesterday my wife was going into town so I reminded her that Haigh's is in town. So we had chocolates to give each other this morning.

Then tonight only my youngest daughter needed to be dropped at guides instead of the normal round of drop offs. So we decided there was time to go down to Brighton and have dinner in one of the cafe's, even had time for a walk on the beach after before pickup time.

For the first time in living memory we have participated in Valentine's Day. Don't get used to it!

Sadly, I didn't even get a Valentines card Mind you, if I ever did, I would probably keel over with shock.

But, I did give a card to my Valentine baby....my youngest daughter was born on Valentines Day.

To be honest, I find it pretty annoying - my wife and I have never done anything on VD, and we are 100% happy with that, but people at work seem obsessed with it. 'oh you have to get something', 'go and get a box of chocolates on the way home'. Sheesh.

Bought some tulips together (roses are such a cliche)... While I was preparing a nice dinner, she surprised me with oysters for entree and a nice treat for later.

A little surprise is always nice. Any fool can spend stupid amounts of money, something creative is much nicer IMHO.
