I haven't checked it out but it sounds like a version of "20 Questions"
This was a game show on radio years ago and there have probably been TV versions also.
20 questions asked in a logical fashion should solve 99.9999% of questions from a good dictionary or encyclopedia. Lets face it 2 to the 20th power gives a mammoth number of yes/no answers. The panel could only be stumped with very obscure items.
I would suspect that there have been a few computer programs that use this simple routine to sort through 2 to the 20th answers.

It got my Galileo, Papa Smurf, John McLean and Kerry Packer very easily.

He didnt know Gronk from "Its about time" a series made in the 60's that I loved as a kid. I must say that very few people ever remember this series, it was a typical silly USA made sitcom right up there with Gilligan and McHales, Bewitched etc. Good clean fun though.

I have tried several times now and he cant get Grant Kenny for some reason? Odd considering how famous Grant is and how obscure some of the other answers were? I guess he is only as good as his database.

Got him... thinking it would be American based, I tried to think of an obscure Aussie personality...
'Strop' from the Paul Hogan show.. 50 questions and three guesses (Russel Coit, Nudge from Hey Dad and Graham Kennedy), he gave up and I had to tell him...
Plenty of fun trying to outwit him... Hehehe

I tried Barbara Streisand and Doc Neeson, got both eventually as well.
