Tomic vs Federer

Alas Tomic couldn't continue his winning role...good effort though against Federer but over confidence and cockiness can only take you so far, maybe next year.

Mind you I do like Tomic cheer squad...The ATOMIC Kittens.

I hate Tomic and his cheer squad. He is so cocky and arrogant. When Federer won a point none of them clapped, I hate when people are like that.

Was on the edge of my seat as well as my parents and friend (we are all Federer fans ).

Have to agree Stefan, he has a bit to learn, he has the ability to go a long way, and probably thought he would walk it in against Roger.

There is a lot of hate in this post as well as some poor grammar and bad spelling.
Greg.

Tomic is no different to many of the young tennis players. He is very talented and brash. If you don't have these qualities and real confidence in yourself you can't succeed at this level. While I expected Federer to win I would like to have seen Tomic close out the second set.

However I have tickets to the finals at the end of the week and will be travelling to Melbourne and Federer is our idol and we wan't to see him against Djokovic or Murray in the final.

Hating a sports person that you only know from Media attention and not personally is rather childish.

Barry

PS While I am not a tennis fan or player about 15 years ago I practiced receiving missiles served by a young tennis pro. The first three serves knocked the racket right out of my hand. After that I found two hands wielded like a club could just stop the ball! B.G

Three of the best male tennis players are all gentlemen IMO

Pete Sampras
Roger Federer
Andre Agasi

all went about winning in a quite manner, arrogance and brashness can only get you so far

Andre Aggasi was not such a gentleman when he was first on the circut.
If you read his book he was not adverse to bending the rules either.

Cheers

when (if) Tomic gets to play as many matches as Federer has , he too may be able to give a master class kin to what he was given the other nite

Tomic has the talent - lets hope age and experience gives him respect and humility

geoff

I agree totally. Unfortunately these are two traits that are absent in the boy but hopefully they will develop in time.

When Federer started out he was a racquet throwing tanty boy too. He turned out to be probably the best ambassador for all sports, not just tennis. Tomic is young and had a lot of money and expectation thrown at him. It takes a certain something to cope with that and not everyone has it. Personally I think he has matured noticeably in the last year and hope his advisors continue good advice.

Yep was going to say, Roger was quite the opposite to his former self when he first started out on the circuit but has thankfully matured. Judging by the post match interview, Tomic has come a long way and good on him.
