The Moustache Nebula
After 2 months of no imaging and having just sent a frozen lap top to the rubbish bin..armed with a new lap top and reloaded software, the gods finally smiled on me on Friday night .
Looking like a giant moustache, this is a small part of a larger image I am working on within the huge Vela Supernova Remnant complex...I only have 1hr Ha and 1hr OIII collected so far ...anyway this is just a crop of a cool bit (small and low res at this stage just for a peek...the final full frame colour version will be bigger )
The Moustache Nebula
At least I got something....
Mike

A marvellous image Mike. Super detailed for so little time spent.
Don't forget to shoot some O111 as Vela is brightest in O111.

A French Mo.
Some fine detail there Mike and sounds like you've been hungry for some imaging time. Good luck with your project
Finally got a decent 2 nights this weekend after about a year no thanks to work but the results were not the best.

Looks very promising Mike. Lots of great detail there. Commiserations on your laptop. You had one stolen once didn't you?
Cheers

Sharp looking there mate!
You know they make a 16-inch version of your scope. Could be quite interesting.

Very, very nice Mike! Does this mean that we can start to call this part of the year Moanuary?!
BTW, I share your pain with the lack of imaging time - all I can seem to image at the moment is cloud and smoke - I think I'll call it the Great Brisbane Nebula....
I look forward with great anticipation in seeing the completed colour version - I do like your images!
Cheers,
Mario

Cool! But you mean Nose & Moustache nebula don't you? I definitely see a nose!
Congrats on getting some data mate! I know how it feels not to image - happens all too often here. Makes me go a bit squirrely!
Cheers, Marcus

Cheers for the look-see's guys and glad you like the progress, I'll try and do the full frame some justice
John: Considered the AG16 but deemed it just a bit too big for a portable outfit (even for me) and although it is a formidable beast, might have been pushing the NJP mount a bit.
Marcus: We'll call it the Groucho Marx nebula
Steve: Yes the frozen computer was an insurance replacement for a stollen one and was just out of warranty a couple of months
