13 hours on the horsehead
Hi to all
Given that the moon was full on my last turn with the Arizona telescope I decided to go deeper on the horsehead. This is a total of 13 hours exposure which is more than you need I think as I don't think the result is twice as good as my previous 6.5 hours.
Cheers
Steve

Very nice, Steve!
With double the exposure you'll only get something SQRT(2) times better than your original 6.5 hours

Thanks Rick. Yeah - I know. I guess I was just highlighting the law of diminishing returns.

Thanks Louie. I already have most of the reds and plan to get some of the rest tomorrow. Should be done easily by this time next week.

Thanks but don't underrate your own image. I thought that was showing a lot of detail too.

Excuse me, Steve. But the perfection of your photo crash my dream of seeing a Horse Head ! I can see many others things, except the head of a horse.
I feel alike when I discovered that Santa Claus was not real.
But it is time to grow up and to know the truth !

Wonderful image, in special the curtain. Should I write the wall ?

I think your SNR changed significantly by increasing the exposure time by 50%. Really evident in the smoothness of the image. Amazing what you can get with a small telescope. Well done.

That really is a stunning image, Steve, congratulations. Absolutely ethereal! And it looks like you set up the lighting to perfection yourself with the spotlights and highlights on the "curtain"!
Alnitak getting a bit pushy on the left of frame - starting to make its presence known.
However, I still say: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=18401

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. They are very much appreciated. I'm getting colour right now and should have it all in a few days. However Alnitak is going to be a real problem so we will see what happens. In the end the Ha only may well turn out to be the best way to present this.
Cheers
Steve
