Saturn bright spot Dec 29th

Hi All,

Imaged Saturn this morning in reasonable seeing for the alt. Already, prior to dawn, Saturn is rising to the same alt as Jupiter is currently culminating at. Have attached 2 742nm IR & 1 RGB data sets. The RGB has an interesting bright spot on the Southern edge of the storm remnant which I have measured in WinJUPOS to be at approx Lat +46.6 L3 39.3

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

Top work Trevor, great to see some cloud features being spotted this early in the season -- bodes well for some interesting sights in the coming months.

Lovely work Trevor! The weather gods are really testing me out here - Haven't had ONE clear night since I posted my crappy little Xmas Saturn lol.

Thanks Laurie, given another month or so I expect to be able to resolve much finer detail within the storm remnant.

Thanks Dean, over the years I have had considerable practice at picking out detail on Saturn, especially in less than great data, but I reckon the heavier processing on the inset would help others to see the spot I am on about.

Very nice Trevor, good job
Thanks Giuseppe, certainly the rings opening up over the next few years will be a highlight for imaging & observing Saturn.

Thanks Ivan, looking forward with great anticipation to the detail we all will resolve through 2013, reckon the Encke Gap right across the rings might well be doable.

Thanks Asi, with the alt that Saturn will rise to I am sure we all will have many opportunities to get high quality data.
