Question about uploading a picture in the TIF format

I would like to post an image of Jupiter in the TIF format. Would someone please explain how to do that? The instructions say that one should go to the User Control Panel under one's Public Profile, click on the 'Pictures & Albums' link, and then clicking on 'Add Album'. I don't see the "Pictures & Albums" link in my User Control panel. I think that it's possible to upload a TIF file because I saw it done here:

Hi Peter

It's not possible to load TIF's. The one you linked to, was one of mine from back a long time ago when I uploaded to the IIS server.

You can load any of the following:
Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip

and to do this, use the "Manage Attachments" button when you're creating a new thread and then browse to your file.

On the quick reply screen, you need to click 'Go Advanced' and then you'll see the Manage Attachments button.

You don't need to load TIF's - just convert them to jpeg.

Thanks Mike, my ultimate goal is to upload one of my raw Jupiter image files that others can process in Registax; if someone can do a better job in adjusting the wavelet sliders then that would help me to better understand the process. However when I process a jpeg file in Registax the wavelet processing disintegrates the planetary image because jpeg is a compressed format. Would any of the other formats you mentioned work for this purpose?

I found the answer to my question about which format enables Registax wavelet processing. The PNG format in Photoshop elements allowed me to adjust the wavelets while maintaining image integrity. Thanks again Mike! Here's an example of 3 of my Jupiter raw AS!2 images (R, G, and B, respectively) which I subsequently wavelet processed in Reg6. Each of these images is in the lossless PNG format:

PNG is a nice lossless format that I try to use exclusively. Most of my planet photographs usually have too much data in them to get them onboard under the required 200KB however.

Wonder what the chances are of extending that limit by admin?
