M42: hand held

Just for a laugh... M42: hand-held.

OM-D & Tak FS-60C (355x2=710mm) with IS set to 350mm.

ISO26500 for 0.6secs

Focal length of 700mm is tough to hold still, even with the OM-D's 5-axis IS.

I'm going to try and take another tomorrow while lying on my back for greater stability. Object of the game is to not let the camera touch or rest against a solid object other than my hand. I think that I can relax a little more and calm the shaking. A challenge for everyone!

Your tracking rate is a little off Chris, maybe try holding the camera more to the left of your body then breathe in slowly during the .6sec exposure.

Next time, stick your tongue out a bit Chris ... to the left side of the mouth preferably. Should improve your stability and PEC issues!

Cheers, Marcus

Your polar alignment is off...

But a great shot for handheld.

You need to apply a PEC curve to your arm!

Greg.

LOL... smatypantsesesses...!

I'm not sure that I've ever seen a hand-held photo of a nebula before. Does anyone know if anything has been published before? It may be a first!

Ha ha, sorry couldn't resist
Hmm, ok I'll try and shoot hand held with the ED80 hanging off the 5D and see how that goes but don't expect it to come out as nearly as good as your one

We might be entering a new era of not needing equatorial mounts any more!
