Brian, My Kindred spirit...

I also picked up this DVD this week.
On special Big W $22.95
That night, (wife works night-fill shift)
Yamaha 3800 AMP
Full size Boston Acoustic Speakers
BenQ Projector
110 inch screen
12" Boston acoustic powered sub woofer
Shakin' ... Loud

Payback to neighbours for numerous "insignificantly loud" all night raves.

Much enjoyed,
and all the deleted scenes were good too.

I am in the process of introducing my 14 year old (I think he is now old enough) to the joys of the Alien series.

We saw Prometheus in the cinema in 3D when it was out earlier this year, and we are now working our way through the Alien movies at home.

We were discussing yesterday whether we would get Prometheus. It was great in 3D on the big screen, not sure if it will have quite the same impact on our little tele at home.

Brian and Allan - sounds like you guys are well set up! Jealous!

C'mon! That's a Photoshop job! How did you get the damn thing through the door?
PS: do you get sunburn marks around the face at the end of each movie?

Well Mark,
It is just a screen,
If it is like mine, it rolls up (like a blind).

And Tony,
I do have BluRay (but not 3D).
I see you live close by.
Perhaps we can loan/swap DVD titles?
And compare setup.

Also,
Happy to host movie sessions for anyone else in the area?

Sure. I recently started to sell my DVDs as I start to buy in bluray (only 5 blurays so far but I cough cough rented blurays)... Threw a lot of DVDs on ebay, sold quite a few for very little money as new dvds are cheap as and new blurays can be had for $10... So I still have plenty of dvd titles...

I'll get them all down on a list... I'm afraid they'll be movies nearly everyone already has... But I have some oddball classics like The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension

PS. I'm buying classic blurays like Contact, The 5th Element, Leon (the professional) etc from JB online 2 for $20 and very little shipping costs... Delivery is quick... Cheaper than ebay...

You have to put 2 in your cart before it shows $20... Linkie here

Ya all got ripped! The DAY it came out, I got it at Woolworths for $20.

Now, not saying where, but certain torrent sights have had it for a while [cough cough], including some fan edits with a lot of deleted scenes added in that fill a lot of the blanks that the morons at Fox took out, much to Ridley Scott's severe chagrin (and he refused to let them have the scenes to add in their cut, except some small tidbits - he will release a director cut soon).

Prometheus is somewhat of an enigma. If you expect Alien series, you will HATE it. If you go in with an open mind and actually THINK about what is being presented to you, even on a philosophical level, it will haunt you and your waking consciousness for a LONG time.

A lot of Prometheus was adapted around the Babylonian / Akkadian Annunaki myths of creation - check those out and compare, even to include dragons to protect the creators... The Annunaki "myth" predates Christianity by a LONG LONG time.

Anyway, waiting patiently for Scott's release, as the Fox cut is woeful really. I just hope the sequel eventuates as planned.

Just always remeber this when watching any of the Alien series - the xenomorph/alien is in fact PART human... we are fighting the Monsters of the Id (Shakespeare and Forbidden Planet for you!)

I hear you Lewis , I myself are a self confessed Alian fan , I seen the origonal Alien in a movie theater in Hamilton NZ as a 1st year apprentice , lied about my age and got in ,, blew me away it did .
Yea a fan ever since .
I did the same to a few young people last saturday night after clouds came over Darwin , so I put Prometheus ( a shephard moon of Saturn's rings ) on for them ,, woaw ! ,,,
They have never seen it , thought it was Fuddy Duddy stuff ? peer pressure ? , they enjoyed it so much that they will get the $20 version at Wollies .....
Great movie , its gonna be a Classic no matter what happens .
I might crank again it tonight ,, HK amps , B&W speakers ... mmmmmm .
Not much happening here at IIS .. People getting ready for next weeks Eclipse , Me thinks .
Brian

Aye, Pirates always win the battles with big brother Though, Prometheus took a good while for a decent version

I only ever bought it to promote Fox just that little bit into thinking a sequel is worthwhile. The last movie I bought was the Alien series boxed set several years (decade?) ago.

My Promethus Blueray disc will not play on the Blueray player (the DVD plays fine) as Samsung are too lazy to update the firmware.

Oh they also lie to you, I caught them out big time on this.

No wonder people pirate movies
