Jupiter from Karratha, Oct 13

Hi all, finally I found some seeing worth recording :-) Not good seeing by any means but much better than anything I've had so far this season.

I'm currently in Karratha in NW Western Australia, hopefully I'll get a few more decent nights here in the next couple of weeks before I have to head home again. Even at a latitude of 20S I'm still not clear of the jetstream. It's much stronger and more pervasive than on my last trip here in 2010.

This has been processed on my laptop, so the brightness/contrast/gamma may be off. I'll reprocess it when I'm home again and on a screen I trust :-)

cheers, Bird

Thanks Paul. It looks ok on my laptop screen, but Leisa said it looked a bit blue on her laptop at home, I know from past experience that this laptop is not very well calibrated.

cheers, Bird

Looking good Bird, looks like the Jet is finally easing, at least for the next week or so.

Cheers

Lovely fine structure....expertly captured.

What scope do you use when you go west?

Great stuff - the bland feature in the middle is quite interesting - maybe it will become more alive soon?

Thanks all.

Peter, I'm using the 16" f/4 newt on my G11 mount. Here's a couple of pics...

Looks good to me Bird. Lovely colour & detail. This a Winjupos version? I've yet to bother with it.

Hi asi, nope, just a normal ninox -> registax -> astra image process, same as I've used for a few years.

cheers, Bird

Beautiful image Anthony! Really enjoyed this view, lovely and smooth.

Can't wait to see what you get in better seeing.

This is now IOTW.

Thanks Mike! Good seeing is yet to show it's head anywhere around here, but I'm hopeful...

Wow Bird! That's some heavy duty gear.

Great shot!! One of the best images of Jupiter I've seen.

That's awesome Bird.
Can't wait until Jupiter rises a bit earlier in the evening. 2pm is a bit late in the night for me
