Jupiter Oct 12th UT

Hi All,

Imaged Jupiter this morning in fair seeing for the alt, actually it looked really nice overhead but suffered a bit low to the horizon.

Have good coverage of the GRS region, All of these RGB's were derotated with 3 of them being over 11 min's and 1 ( by accident, I lost count of the number of consecutive RGB channels) was 6.5 min's.

Have attached 1 RGB & 742nm IR data set along with animations of both sets.

Thanks for looking.

Regards
Trevor

Some superb fine detail in the 742 data Trevor! The RGB is not bad either. Great stuff considering the alt. These haven't really got the tell-tale low alt. signs.

Thanks Deeno, yes, the atmosphere of Jupiter is very dynamic and there have been quite significant developments within it over the last couple of years with various impacts, the fading of the SEB and its reformation now.

Thanks very much Asi, I am becoming a fan of WinJUPOS derotation. Must say that I really never gave much credence to it, a lot of the images being produced using it, to me, don't look very good, sort of artificial.

There is not a lot of info out there on how to do it well so it is a matter of trying different techniques to sort out what works and what doesn't. Reckon I have a way to go but these results and also my Sept 30th results certainly seem encouraging, when comparing the quality of the raw data to that of the final result.

Thanks Matt, no, here in the Southern Hemisphere we certainly aren't expecting a good season due to the low alt. This will also be the case next year but combining multiple data sets over extended periods and derotating it seems to work wonders.
