My next 25 hour target has begun

Still working on Helix exposures, but this morning caught 3 x 40m subs of M42 region. Begging for more exposure. 25 hours? Piece of cake. It should be real interesting when done.

Very nice but its a bit chopped off at the top of Orion. Too late to reframe?

Greg.

I neglected to say that is going to be a 2 x 2 mosaic. So that area will be overlapped with another segment and the other 2 will extend further north to pick up the "horse" and M78. Imagine each segment 25 hours total exposure. Should be a killer result if it doesn't kill me first.

Love the field of view. I have similar plans for such an image using a Nikon f2.8 lens.

This image should be spectacular once completed. Looking forward to the results.

Well a knock at the door and FedX just delivered my Riccardi Honders RH200 for testing. Unfortunatlely it's 7000 miles north of Coona.

Cute lil bugger.

Looks fantastic already. Those stars are looking so crisp and sharp and the amount of detail you have captured in the whisps of nebulosity out there is incredible. Looking forward to seeing the entire 25 hours worth of data

I made a quick mosaic with your image John. My two images were 10x8 minutes 3nm NII taken with the RH200.

I used Registar to calibrate your image to mine for brightness etc.

This gives you an idea of the field and quality of the RH200 compared with your FSQ.

Full resolution image 11MB

John here is an animated gif comparing the RH200 to the FSQ. Looks like you will be able to merge data from both rather easily.

Indeed, the RH200 is a good match for blending images. Still waiting on camera and motor adapters for testing.
