Foam lined OTA cases

Anyone know any good places to get a hard, foam lined travel case made for transporting your OTA?

Found one website who custom makes them, just curious to weather anyone else has anything?

I dunno of any Australian makers, but the 'Pelican' line of cases are pretty adaptable if somewhat pricey locally.
Ted's & Michael's carry them and there are probably a few on e-bay.

Guys that make cases for musical instruments should also be able to knock something together.

Jim's Mobile Industries (JMI) in USA have lots of different cases for scopes-have a look on their website to see if they have what you need.

Try Trimcast in Melbourne http://www.trimcast.com.au/

Their product is top notch and they will custom make the box and cut the lining to fit much cheaper than getting it done overseas.

Cheers

Has anyone tried the Kinchrome cases from Bunnings? They have a similar design to Pelican and have the same sort of foam.

The Kinchrome cases aren't bad- I've hot my eyepieces, finders, telecasts, collimating tools, drive electronics etc in them. Three years on the Kinchrome logo has fallen off, but they're still watertight. Not unite as well made as the pelican case, but adequate.
Cheers
Andrew.

Just make up a plywood box and use foam inserts cut to shape--an afternoon's work.

I've got my BVs in one and it's very, very good.
Solid protection and lots of foam, but haven't compared it directly to a Pelican.
I haven't dropped it either tho'.
I would think that for 99% of use, they would be fine. If you are travelling abroad though, or going on a rough trip, you might want to spend an extra $100-$400 as Pelicans ARE great cases for protecting your preciousess.

FWIW, Bunnings has a Kinchrome one on wheels that looks like it would hold a shortish 4" and would definately cope with something in the 70-90mm size.
