Springbrook vista

This was a spur of the moment thing today while exploring some of the wonderful parks, lookouts and waterfalls in the Springbrook National Park hinterland today. Gold Coast high rise visible in the distance through the haze. Taken from Canyon Lookout for those that know the area. Whew, what an amazing view.

15 panels, Canon 450D, 28mm Pentax k-mount lens f/5.6. The lower middle and right panels have been severely cropped for symmetry unfortunately, however they probably would have been too dark in the afternoon light anyway. All a learning exercise for a parorama newbie

Very nicely done.

I have done a few panoramas with my Canon 40D.

I recently have been accessorising it with a grip and glass covers on the LCD screens, an intervalvometer etc.

All very affordable on Ebay.

Nice pano. It's amazing it looks almost like some places around Katoomba in the blue mountains. The trees are a bit taller and denser but very similar landscape otherwise.

Thanks Greg. Had some of your great pano shots in mind actually when realised how woefully inadequate my FOV was for this challenge. Glad I had a go now. Sounds like the 40D is giving you lots of fun.

Thanks Stephen (Panorama Tools - Hugin). Last time I tried something like this used Photoshop it was a PITA in comparison.

Thanks Marc. There are a few lookouts around the cliffs lining the canyon (and nearby ridge/canyons). The ridges off to right in the distance have antarctic beech trees thoughts to be thousands of years old. Amazing place to explore. Have only been to Katoomba once, but can see similarity you describe. You can see a couple of the many waterfalls, but none terribly active. Looks like you can walk around and under most too, but long walks, and not possible with kids and wife in tow (assuming I was actually fit enough anyway )

The Purlingbrook Falls Circuit is a decent walk but my kids used to love it. You might get a bit wet but walking behind the falls is a lot of fun.

Thanks Rick. I was gazing longingly at the walk under the falls there and the people way down in the canyon. I think a revisit sometime will be in order
