Thanks for sharing the link to the article, wouldn't it be nice to have an 36" in your ( big ) back yard, seriously, it would be fantastic to get an eyeball through a scope that size. Something like 47 Tuc would be quite pretty.

Very interesting - thanks for posting this. I love the cross axis design. They don't make them like this any more, and beautifully restored too.

Reminds me a bit of the Upsala instrument that Rob McNaught uses at Siding Springs.

A scissor lift, it would use a fair bit of time, moving the lift out of the way, skewing the scope then driving the lift to a new viewing position

I would lay a bet that a well ventilated 24" F4 scope outside the dome would show off the 'show' objects better and show fainter stars and be a hell of a lot more user friendly . Size aint everything This scope looks like a vision from the 1950's.

Hi Eric - I think 24" F3 are still a work in progress commercially but when they 'get there' they will tick most boxes for portability and user friendliness.
