Starry Night nightvision

Quick question: I have the Starry Night Enthusiast 5 version.

Does this offer a night vision option? If so, where do I find it?

I don't think the Enthusiast version does. I know my 4.5 doesn't

Looks like I'll have to upgrade to Pro just to get nightvision, which in my book is just plain wrong!

OK. I know I'll get other features as well with the upgrade but really... night vision should be a given?

IMO up grading just for the night vision isn't worth it. I find the red screen of Starry Night pretty insipid and end up using red celophane if others are around anyway. Certainly the pro has a lot of other funtionalities and is a great program in its own right, just don't do it for the so called nightvision mode (called red screen in SN pro).

Nah. I wouldn't upgrade just for the red screen. As you say, there's more functionality to Pro which would make it a worthwhile upgrade.

Would be interesting to see how it works linked to the EQ6 and SynScan.

But I stand by my original whinge that red screen should be a basic "foundation" feature included in all generations of SN

I'll be sticking some red cellophane on the screen in the interim

How well do you find night-vision modes actually work? I haven't tried with my Laptop but on my Palm T5 both planetarium programs I have offer night vision modes but I find enough white light escapes from the sides of the screen (from the backlight) that they are not that useful..

It works OK on the free The Sky software that came with my 9.25 but the software itself is pretty basic.

Sounds like maybe there's an issue with software and screen compatibility with your Palm? Maybe need to adjust settings somewhere to make it fit full screen?

Maybe you need to shroud your Palm to block that stray light?

Bruce/Barees63 what planetarium software do you use on your T5? I have a T2 and never thought of putting a planetarium program on it.
