Head Light

My red light died. The switch has failed

I have ordered a $20 head light from my astro. Has anyone else used one of these or should I be looking elsewhere. I need a light for astrofest to find the door out

Looks like a re-brand of the Energizer one but about $15 cheaper.
Should be good then.

Cheers, I guess I'll find out tomorrow. My Astro are normally pretty quick with the post.

The Varta headlights from Bunnings are about $17 each. The advantage is that you don't have to cycle through all the white light settings before getting to the red light. Simply flick the switch to the left or right for the required mode.

Whew, good thing you've got that sorted in advance Robin. I wouldn't want to be the only headlight user getting in trouble at Astrofest!

I had one of those too, but it got pinched by someone I thought was a mate,

Then I got a $5 headlamp from a $2 shop, and a $1 sheet of red cellophane from the news agent. Two or three layers of cellophane over the lamp and just as good. Mine's still going strong after two years, .

John the Energizer has the same left/right switching.

Haha, now how to disguise the oil heater so it looks like astro gear

The My Astro head light switches to either red or white and takes 3xAAA batteries. There are no brand name markings on it at all. Should do the job though.

I lashed out on a Petzl Tikka2*. I figure if you're going to annoy people with a bright light, you may as well do it in style!

* Easily found on eBay for about half the domestic gouge .. ahem .. I mean price.

I picked up a Led Lenser headlight for $50 from Home Depot in Castlehill a few months back. Fully adjustable output but boy is it bright at around 200 lumens at full output. Great for BBQs after sunset.

Thanks John, Picked one up yesterday at the McGraths Hill store.
Working on reducing the brightness now. The single Red LED is really bright!

This is where I got mine. Gone up in price a bit but they are much cheaper than then usual shops around town.
