Things to view or image

Attached is a list of 112 clusters, nebulae and galaxies to view or image while you are the astrofest.
The visual observers will probably see most of them, the imagers might capture a few
The objects have RA greater than 13 and declination less than 50.
Vmag is the visual magnitude
SBr is the surface brightness
L & W are the length and width in arcmins
RA is in h m s
dec is in d m

These objects were selected from http://www.klima-luft.de/steinicke/ngcic/ngcic_e.htm
Attached Files
File Type: pdf QA 112.pdf (150.3 KB, 35 views)

Glen
That's a great list and I'm sure will be used by me as well as others at Astrofest.

Are you bringing the big binocs? (are you bringing you?! )
Would be cool to put them on my new home-brew parallelogram for spin sometime!

Yes, I will bring the 20x80s and a 16" Dob.
See the image for a great way to observe.
Thanks Rob.

Dunlop Marathon

In the USA, and elsewhere, they have Messier Marathons where they try to look at all of the 109 Messier objects in one night.
I am planning to do a Dunlop Marathon during the Qld Astrofest and attempt to see 150 Dunlop objects in one night.
If you want to join me go to http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=79654
James Dunlop catalogued these objects in 1826 from Parramatta, NSW with a 9" aperture reflector.

Not to worried. I think it will take me at least a night or two to get everything running together happily. Good practice time.

A proposal.......

I have been contemplating my navel – that’s no mean feat. A question has been pondering, lingering, bothering me – what to take to the eclipse. So this is a very directed question to those that are attending Queensland Astrofest and who will be driving up to Cairns in November. Would you have room for a HEQpro5, tripod and battery? . Also I would be entrusting you with my mount until Astrofest next year.

I am prepared to chip in some fuel money, and you would have the use of the mount until the next Astrofest when I can pick it back up?

I am trying to work out my logistics for this year………

Duckadang would have been at least 4 degrees colder. Brrrr

It would be nice if everyone reads the camp rules ( http://www.qldastrofest.org.au/regis...let%202012.pdf ) about noise in and around the bunk houses.

Couldn't believe it last year when on a cloudy night I went to bed 11:00pm to waken at 11:30pm by someone to decided to play a DVD on full volume in the bunk house.

Almost everyone shows consideration, but there always seem to be one who doesn't.

Minus five last two mornings, complete white out everywhere-looks like westerly winds,so might get quite cool at astrofest this year.
