Another threesome in Ha

Yes, it's that @#$%ing Lagoon Nebula again

4.5 hours of 3nm Ha with my FSQ-106ED, AP900 mount and STL11K camera. Taken from the inner burbs of Brisbane and only lightly processed in PixInsight. I do have LRGB as well but I'm taking my time and experimenting a lot with the processing. I figure I had better do a good job so that my image is not put to shame by some of the brilliant ones I have seen lately!

Largish version here: http://rickstevenson.smugmug.com/Astro-Photography/2012-07/24276295_KctMFz#!i=1976650381&k=BtC hcvL&lb=1&s=O

Cheers,
Rick.

Wow, awesome Rick very bold and contrasty

Not sure you could blend that version easily with RGB but I am sure you will work it out, look forward to seeing what you do with the HaRGB combine

That's magnificent Rick. Very well executed and extremely deep.

FSQ and STL11 are a great combo.

Greg.

Thanks, Mike. I might have to use a toned down version for my HaLRGB combo or it will just be a sea of pink!

Thank you, Greg. It sure is a great combo and it's nice to be able to capture deep images from the city.

Great image Rick -I'm sure the colour will turn out great but the Ha stands up very well by itself.

Cheers

Exceptional processing! Pixel Insight? Stars are razor sharp. Is there a reason it's flipped left to right?

Yes, I used PI, but I didn't do much... perhaps that's the secret The left to right flip is because I haven't used the FSQ for a little while and I forgot that step in the processing. Doh! Thanks for pointing it out and the kind comments, John.

I love it just the way it is. Colour would only detract from the detail.
Beautiful work

Nice Ric. I take it you don't have SII and OIII? If so those blended with RGB is the go. Ha to red and SII to green. Looking forward to how you sort this one.

Beautiful striking image Rick, and wonderful FOV to swim around in!
A bit too much multiscale transform for my liking if I'm going to be picky

Love the highres details. Although I realise the challenge in fitting the huge difference in brightness between the three objects I'm not a fan of the overall (compressed) dynamic range especially in the Lagoon.

Thanks, Paul. No, I didn't take any other narrowband data. I'm not a huge fan of the colours in most narrowband images although your recent NGC 6188 was an exception.

I often push these things a bit too far, Rob At present I'm mostly happy with it but I might change my mind in future. Thanks!

I could not make out what it was from the thumbnail and when I looked in the thread it took me a few seconds to realise it was that Lagoon but not like the usual rendition as it is so deep. Been thinking about getting the 3nm Ha, contrast and depth are amazing. A very fine image on its own.

John.

Thanks, John. The 3nm Ha filter is great for imaging from the city!
