Moon

I have taken these with a pentax kx at the eyepiece freehand,
cold numb shaking hands. Using a Tal200k FL/8.5 1700.
Not so easy in the cold.

Hi Dennis,
That disc shot is so impressive to me - when you look at the Moon it is so bright but details are easily seen. Images that successfully capture the brightness are often overblown and detail is lost - you have that 'real' brightness while retaining great details - super!

I love the close up shot. So much detail.

Hi Matt,

Thankyou for your reply, I have installed a 2" focuser to the Tal200k and was checking if my collimation was right that night. Next I need to find the correct focal point so I can attach the Pentax KX slr into the focuser and not freehand shots. Visually the image was sharper but just could not find correct place on eyepiece. This Tal version has a shorter focal length F 8.5 and fairly small central obstruction (about 35%) compared to the Chinese RC's. She may be ok for general astro pictures.

Thanks JJJnettie

I should try the Phillips SPC 900 next time and compare it to the Pentaxkx slr.
