another test for the polarie - crux

took this last night with 60D and Scotts nifty fifty at the brickworks park. 15 x 1min shots due to the light polution. taken before we fogged up the lens

A touch more contrast Dave and the Coal Sack will pop out.
Nice image and good detail.

yeah its been a very long time since i processed anything deep - this is still pretty shallow really

Was a good night at the park, very chilly and was great to get the old star hopping skills going and visually catch some galaxies with the Society 12 inch, a damm nice scope. Good detail in the coalsack too

One minute subs is good ... How did you polar align?

I just plonked it roughly south and got 30 sec images easily but at 18 mm focal length
At 55 mm I had to do a drift align

Or do you have the polar scope?

yeah it was good to muck about - need a dew strap to point vertical though

Great shot Dave

Love Omega Centauri shining brightly there on the edge of the FOV and the Jewel Box is quite bright too.
