The Markarian Chain: Canon 60D & 135mm

This was taken over a month ago on the 11th of May. I wasn't very impressed when I first took it so didn't bother with it. No flats so some fabulous vignetting to deal with and a bit of late post full moon thrown in to boot. GradientXterminator

I gave it another shot this morning in the processing vat and it didn't come out too badly. There's a bit of flexure from the ball head I was using, and there probably werent enough subs, yadda yadda but overall ... ok.

Details:
Canon 60D @ISO640 & 135mm lens @ f/3.2
15x360sec

1st image: full field
2nd image: full field inverted
3rd image: crop of central area inverted

Not mine, just a reference image. http://www.farnham-as.co.uk/wp-conte...72_overlay.jpg (warning:1.5mb)
There one hell of a lot of galaxies in there if you go looking. Next time, stable mount, dark skies and longer exposures ..... and a chainsaw through the tree thats blocking out the rest of the season.

Nice. There sure are a lot of galaxies in there. GradientXterminator does do a good job.

Nice bit of sky there Paul,

Interesting with the inverted view, I have a similar shot with my 135mm Pentax f2.8 that i might give second look in the inverted.

Thanks for showing

Very nice!
I had no idea it was possible to get so many galaxies at this focal length!
Going to have to give it a go myself

Thanks guys. Having the lens to do the job helps.

Sorter f ratio or longer time next time Simon. There are plenty more in the background that could be brought out more.
