Ngc 4725 & ngc 4712.
Hello all
A lovely little galaxy pairing in Coma Berenices.
Taken from Heaven's Mirror Observatory in the Sierras, this is an HaLRGB image consisting of 3:6:4:4:4 hours. Planewave 17", Apogee U16M and Astrodon filters.

Here is the full frame image which also contains NGC 4747 in the lower right. A lovely addition to the field, but kind of spoils the composition.

Thanks for looking
Martin

Ok, here I am in my observatory tonight having taken 150 monochrome 30 second galaxy images and then I see this. Seriously Martin your work is just sensational. If I can find another SN, my request is in.... please image the galaxy for me. Will let you know, soon hopefully.

Sensational Martin. The detail is just mind boggling and the big star halo and that wispy spray of stars just visible. Fabulous.

They are both wonderful images Martin.

From Cronulla you'd get an excellent shot of the "Ice Cream Nebula" as some kid drops his ice cream on your lens!

Lovely image. Great equipment makes for great images. Well that and quite a lot of skill. Very smooth image with excellent colour. Would like the same gear myself.

Thanks everyone.
Hey Mike - I would personally rate this as my 4th best galaxy behind M51 (which I love!), M81, M31 then this.
cheers

Not for me, this latest image looks just so "real" probably because of the very fine detailed HII regions and less saturated colours..? I like the uncropped version best too
Still all top quality of course
