I want to update my synscan controller to the new 3.28 firmware. can I power the hand controller with the 12v battery i use for for running my eq6? i.e. plug the 12v car socket into the hand controller.

Yes, just make sure you have the polarity correct - tip positive.

Or a 12V power pack if you have one.

Yeah thanks James its a 12v power pack with built in 12v socket. Polarity would be the same as I have been driving the eq6. Looking forward to the update.

It's pretty easy Steve, takes about 5 minutes or so. Just make sure all your connections are secure so it doesn't go offline during the update.

Yep thanks easy as, as soon as I read to press 8 & 0 together while powering up. Never been big on reading instructions the first time round.

RTFM !! .... Hahahahahah.

Confess I've had to get more serious about reading instructions on this stuff, it's too easy to make a very bad mistake. Also good to have a step by step for tasks, there are just so many to get right when imaging that you can miss something vital and waste a precious clear night.

You go up to 3.28 ? Looks like the bugs are fixed so I will redo mine shortly. I stopped at 3.27 after hearing some problem reports.

Looks like 3.28 works, I only got part way through the adjustment when I had to talk to a courious neighbour, then it was time for the kids to go to bed and get ready for the next days work. I few cloud free nights and hopefully I 'll have the set up and alignment down pat

Cool, I'm chasing the WRC Rally this weekend and then hopefully some clear skies next week to upgrade and test it out.
