A Butterfly in The Milky Way
I have been going over some previous (Starfire) data recently and reworking several images and thought some may like to see this one..? This one is of M6 The Butterfly cluster in Scorpio
Here is a 50% size version of the Full Frame
Here is a crop of the cluster by itself:
Sorry it's just a repro ....anyway, some of you may not have seen it before

Very pretty, Mike. I'm surprised you got so much from a relatively short exposure time. BTW, did you notice you had one green star?
Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick.
Re the green star, I think you are refering to the asteroid? It is three coloured stars in a row, tell tail signs of catching an asteroid in RGB work, so I left it in there

This is one of my favourite clusters. The image has an ethereal quality. I loved it when you first posted it, and, still love it now.

Excellent, Big Mike! I love your star clusters; such depth and rich color. I use your images as standards when I process. If mine look something like yours then I know I am on the right processing path.

Repro or not, it's a beautiful FOV, colours and contrasts. Star separation is excellent, even in the heavily populated areas.
Nearly pop a vein trying to find that green star Rick.

Cheers Trevor, actually it was my recent discussion with you about this cludter that lead to me revisiting the whole image

This compared with M7 is quite different as your M7 image shown on a golden bed of stars while M6 has a dusty darker background.

Yes they are indeed quite different, there is little dust or emission around M7 compared to M6, quite different views really.
