In the tail of Scorpius, vdBH80 Region

Hi all, here is another target not so usually imaged at my focal lenght (1m) that is quite interesting. The FOV is centered on vdBH80, a small reflection nebula in the centre of the bright rimmed globule SFO 85, which is embedded in the giant emission nebula RCW 113. The most popular target in the image is NGC6231, partially visible in my framing.

vdBH80

Not the most spectacular shot yet a nice area, rich of dusts, gasses and stars. I am not completely happy with the overal color balance though, your comments are quite welcome in the matter, however I played with the RGB for a while and so far this was the best compromise . I am not happy also to had to cut NGC6231 in half, maybe I will add another panel to this image to improve it in the future..

On the website are the details (HaRGB) and a very interesting description of the area prepared by Sakib Rasool.

Comments as usual are welcome

Clear skies
Marco

A wonderful widefield vista. A shame that open cluster didn't make it in fully.

I think this is a new area for most of us. Whereabouts is it?

Greg.

Hi Greg, thanks for the appreciation. It is part of the large nebular complex of which IC4628 is the most known component. There is a very nice wide field shot posted recently by Marc in this forum where you can easily identify it at the bottom right.

Kudos for going off the beaten track Marco and still producing a wonderful vista.

Very nice image Marco but the framing is just that bit off from perfect. Really nice but I keep trying to look past the limits of the frame.

Lovely (odd) bit of sky that Marco, I think you could just about image any bit of sky and show up something of interest, it's a diverse sky above us that's for sure

Mike
