It's not an absolute rule, but it does seem to happen a lot - the skies clear up around about full moon. Is there a meteorological explanation? Is it just he sky gods taking the mickey? Am I imagining it?

Bah humbug. The 100kms around Bris is clearly being affected by the moon.
Mind you, at least there is a hint of rain free days starting to appear on the long range forecasts. They've been solid green for so long I thought they might have been broken..... http://www.weatherzone.com.au/long-r...outheast-coast
This brings to mind an event that happened a few years ago. I was driving in an easterly direction one night when I noticed that the horizon ahead was getting lighter, due to the moon, so I pulled over to watch the moon rise. At the time I was listening to Pink Floyd and just as the music reached it crescendo, the moon broke the horizon. I really couldn't have timed the two things any better. It was the most "magical" moon rise I have ever seen.
