Full moon = clear sky?

It's not an absolute rule, but it does seem to happen a lot - the skies clear up around about full moon. Is there a meteorological explanation? Is it just he sky gods taking the mickey? Am I imagining it?

I have noted this phenomena myself.
I think some being of a higher plane is pocking us with a big stick......

I noticed it too - about 5 days around full moon is perfect for AP if the moon wasn't there!

Bah humbug. The 100kms around Bris is clearly being affected by the moon.

Mind you, at least there is a hint of rain free days starting to appear on the long range forecasts. They've been solid green for so long I thought they might have been broken.....

This brings to mind an event that happened a few years ago. I was driving in an easterly direction one night when I noticed that the horizon ahead was getting lighter, due to the moon, so I pulled over to watch the moon rise. At the time I was listening to Pink Floyd and just as the music reached it crescendo, the moon broke the horizon. I really couldn't have timed the two things any better. It was the most "magical" moon rise I have ever seen.
