My first Solar mosaic with colour!
Hi all,
Just back from the SPSP - had a great time!
I did not get in as much solar as I initially had hoped for but I did mange to trial a 4 panel mosaic mosaic with my Lunt60 DS at prime focus. It is pretty ordinary but I know how to make things a bit better next time - I think I will use this combo for the disc shots of the Venus transit and do some close ups with the 80.
I did add colour too - a tad unusual for me.
Any comments or advice appreciated.

Looking good Matt!
Looks maybe a little over cooked on the active regions, but the proms filaments are gorgeous!
Do you use curves much to bring out the contrast?
I've attached an example of a typical double hump curve I use to bring out contrast on the disk and the proms (lower hump) FYI.
Al.

Looks good Matt. Detail is good but as Al pointed out there is a blow out in the active regions. You're on to a good start though and that will improve.

Thanks all - there is a fair bit to learn as the brightness varies across the individual images so the mosaicing processing takes some time - process before or after mosaic, lots of tweaking and some luck!
I had another crack yesterday- Lunt60DS, DMK31 prime focus, 4 panel mosaic - I think a touch better?

No doubt Matt, the full disk adds drama. I liked the colour in the first one, but you have definitely improved your technique on this one.
Looking forward to more color full disk mosaics in the future!

Yep it is tough getting the high and low spots flattened out and I reckon you are pretty well there. I always struggle with this on my full disks, so you are not alone with this.

great image,
i find it fascinating to see the difference of the solar images through the lunt (i have a pst).
Subtly nuanced, yet oddly, different.
is the colour image representative of what it looks like at the eyepiece?

These are great Matt.
I like the second one better - better contrast.
