Canon EOS 5DMK III raw data
Compared my new Canon EOS 5D MK III to the MK II this morning....
... rough and ready test but the Mark III looks to have much better noise properties than its predecessor.

The 24-105 kits are available now in Hong Kong.
A body only is a little harder to track down there, but managed to source one from a shop I've been going to for...oh... about 20 years

Would love to see these processed in DPP; with DLO enabled, to truly bring out the best in the data.

Wow , what happened to the MarkII color palette on the ISO 3200 image?
MarkIII images are mighty impressive in the comparison.

No congrats required, but the sentiment is appreciated 
I left the data as unprocessed RAW simply to make it an Apples vs Apples comparison.
In camera HDR is quite impressive, as is the burst rate.
Send me a PM if you end up having difficulty getting one.

To be fair to the MKII (still a spectacular DSLR ) the cloud density was changing, giving the MKIII data a slight edge.
That said, things have moved up a knotch with the MKIII...
If I get the chance I will post some star-field images along similar lines.

Certainly an improvement. Colour rendition is also more stable on the Mark iii over the ii at ISO3200.
I take it this some heavy crop?

Ponder why they didn't go USB 3.0 - although the 1D X has a gigabit ethernet port to transfer files rather quickly!

Don't you use a card reader to download the files anyway? Wouldn't you be able to get a USB 3 card reader?

Well, you /can/ if you really want to, attach the camera directly to the computer and stream the files off of it.
But, yeah, personally, I've always used a card reader.

I was wanting to do some WF Astro shots.... but clear nights are few are far between of late...so all of my imagaing sessions of late get shunted to the RHA and STX.... *but* word is the La Nina has ended 
So I will do more soon....

Dpreview have got their studio test images up for the 5D mk3 and they confirm the approximately half stop improvement at high ISO's that Peter gets. So as Greg says, with improved AF and video, a pretty solid upgrade.
