Beta Crucis, the Jewelbox and RCW 71

This was almost a disaster because I didn't refocus the FSQ 106 as often as I should have. The luminance was sharp though so I think it turned out reasonably well in the end. I still have some flexure problems too but I'm slowly getting on top of them.

Cheers

Steve

Great Pic

Excellent Photo. One of my favourite parts of the sky the whole Carina, Crux, Centaurus region.
Thanks Again, very enjoyable.

Nice work Steve, that dark dust lane would have been a pain to bring out and keep under control.

No overly keen on wide fields myself but nice job Steve, picked up a lot going on in there with good colour balance

It's a wonderfully rich starfield.

Nice image Steve. Perhaps not the most picturesque ares of sky.

I am surprised you have flexure with a relatively light STL11. Is this a 106ED? Have you tightened the focuser screws underneath and locked off the captain's wheel? Scew on type adapters?

Also the focuser lock lever needs to be partially engaged if doing manual focusing as it shifts focus when engaged otherwise.

Greg.

I suppose it's not as picturesque as some but at least that little red nebula adds something.

I'm actually using the 11K with the FW8 filter wheel which adds a fair bit of weight. Also I think we are talking about two different FSQs. This one doesn't have a captain's wheel. I think I've managed to tighten everything up now. Part of the problem was having to find a .035" Allen key.

Thanks Trevor. Wide fields have their place but you need to have some interesting targets in the FOV I guess.
