M41 Little Beehive cluster

Was testing some new LRGB Astrodon filters and the Orion Flattener for the ED80 the other night. Also my first LRGB fully processed in PixInsight.

Quite happy with the results for only 5x60s subs each LRGB.

Bit of a repro added, paying a bit more attention to the stars. Maybe a little over-saturated. But I like it.

Hi Troy

Congratulations on your 1st PixInsight LRGB – you’ve done a good job, the cluster and stars look quite natural on my monitor.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks mate. I'm loving PI. As you know, massive learning curve. But regularly reading the forum they have and doing some tutorials/videos. Learning the workflow.

What I really like about it is that it is so hands on. You're in complete control every step of the way. And to be able to process that way, I'm learning so much and understanding more about noise, integration, calibration, when to combine the L and RGB, when to take out gradients etc. Always struggled with that, and I love absorbing information too.

Cheers mate. It's pretty good. At 100% I think there's still slightly eggy shapes in the corner. But at this scale and all up, I think it's the best flattener I've tried on the ED80. Only thing I can do now is upgrade to a better refractor. Sigh...
